چکیده

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) requires that all test and research reactors operating on Higher Enriched Uranium (HEU) should be converted to Low (LEU) for safety security purposes. Nigeria having a Miniature Neutron Source Reactor (MNSR) has been long interested in fuel technological not just develop the area but also meet with resolution nuclear treaty set out by global regulatory body. In this study, reactor kinetic parameters such as effective delayed neutron fractions, prompt lifetime well mean generation time were analysed Nigerian Research Reactor-1 (NIRR-1). Serpent Monte Carlo code 1.17 is used analysis. For determination, we fission probability iteration under one averaged population rate. The calculated values recorded analogue implicit lifetime, reproduction emission are order of 3×10-7 (s), agreement data from libraries some literature. The result delay fraction other time-based support core conversion NIRR-1.The computational pictorial results obtained simulation described transient behavior reactor. The analytical spelled relevance compatibility low enriched uranium dioxide over higher type. The study conforms similar different codes

Current Studies of Conversion of Ghana Research Reactor Core to Low Enriched Uranium

The core conversion studies of the Ghana Research Reactor Core started in 2006 and with the objective of designing an LEU core with similar operational capabilities as the original HEU core and with acceptable safety margins under both normal and accident conditions. Steadystate studies for converting the Ghana MNSR facility from HEU to LEU core have been performed using the PLTEMP/ANL V4.1 cod...

Thermal Hydraulic Limits Analysis for the MIT Research Reactor Low Enrichment Uranium Core Conversion Using Statistical Propagation of Parametric Uncertainties

The MIT Research Reactor (MITR) is evaluating the conversion from highly enriched uranium (HEU) to low enrichment uranium (LEU) fuel. In addition to the fuel element redesign from 15 to 18 plates per element, a reactor power upgraded from 6 MW to 7 MW is proposed in order to maintain the same reactor performance of the HEU core. Previous approaches in analyzing the impact of engineering uncerta...

KINETIC STUDY OF TRR CORE IN FUEL CONVERSION FROM HEU TO LEU

In the conversion of fuel in the Tehran Research Reactor core from Highly- Enriched Uraniutn to Low-Enriched Uranium fuel neutronics analysis, thermal hydraulic calculations and kinetic performance of the core have to be studied. In this study, static and dynamic core performance for HEU and LEU fuels were investigated. In static conditions, two groups of neutron flux distributions in axia...

Flow Blockage Accident Analysis of Tehran Research Reactor Fuel Assembly

Tehran Research Reactor (T.R.R.) is a pool-type, 5 MW thermal research reactor. One probable event is that if some external objects or debris fall down into the reactor core and cause obstruction of the coolant flow through one of the fuel assemblies, decreasing the surface flow area, ceases the coolant flow, and also raises the fuel and sheaths tempe...
